Top Ladies of Distinction Supports the Confirmation of
Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court
Members of the United States Senate,
Today, I write you as the National President and CEO for Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. In this role, I represent more than 5,000 civically-minded women from across the country. We stand united in our support of the confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the United States Supreme Court.
Judge Jackson has been an advocate for justice throughout her career. Born in Washington, DC, and raised in Miami, Fl., Judge Jackson set her sights on attending Harvard University, even when others tried to dissuade her. Not only did she succeed, but she also graduated magna cum laude and went on to attend and graduate Harvard Law School with a Juris Doctor degree cum laude.
Judge Jackson has worked her way up through the legal ranks from her service as a law clerk, her stint as a private practice attorney, and then as a clerk for the retiring Justice Stephen Breyer. In 2010, she was unanimously confirmed to the United States Sentencing Committee by the U.S. Senate. In 2013, she was confirmed, by the Senate, to the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. Then in 2021, President Joe Biden nominated Judge Jackson to serve on the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. She was confirmed on a bi-partisan vote.
Judge Jackson’s background shows that she achieves what she set her mind on. Her resume shows that Judge Jackson is more than qualified to hold the position of Supreme Court Associate Justice. History shows that Judge Jackson has the ability to obtain votes across party lines.
When we speak of history, we speak of moments like this. This is a moment when our leaders can stand on the right side of history. Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc., was founded by women of color who wanted to make our communities stronger and positively impact the lives of youth and adults. Our youth look to women like Judge Jackson, and in her they see someone that they can aspire to emulate.
President Biden, through an intensive and thorough process, has selected a candidate who will represent our country with intellect, dignity, humility, principles, ethics, and excellence. President Biden selected a candidate that can be fair, rational, and decisive. Now, we ask the Senate to proceed with the process of confirming Judge Jackson to the highest court in our land.
The confirmation of this nominee is more than just a historical moment in time. It is the beginning of a new chapter for the Supreme Court – one that is closer to representing the diversity of our great nation.
